New netfiles version offers direct editing of
 Office documents in the data room

netfiles GmbH, one of the leading providers of virtual data rooms in Germany, presents a new version of the netfiles data room. Key feature of this version is a new function for editing Office documents directly in the data room.

Instead of downloading a document, editing locally, then loading it back, netfiles users can now edit directly in the data room, using locally installed Office software. The function is available to users with edit rights to the relevant documents if activated by the data room administrator.

Alternatively to using locally installed Microsoft Office software, users can select to edit online in the web browser with LibreOffice (Collabora), integrated into netfiles. Data edited in this way remains in secure netfiles data centers and is thus subject to German data protection regulations at all times.

Further new functions in the netfiles data room

The current netfiles version also offers a new security function to encrypt PDF downloaded files from the data room with a password. These documents can only be opened and read locally after entering the password.

Further, users can now choose to be provided with a summary of changes in the data room at selected intervals (hourly, daily, weekly or monthly) instead of receiving individual e-mails for each change.
